Glossary

Adblue

Adblue® is an aqueous solution comprising 32.5% urea and demineralized water, which guarantees the proper functioning of the SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

This product is biodegradable, colourless, water soluble and non-hazardous.

GPN Industry & Environment markets AdBlue ® under the name of GPNOX-AB, classified under the heading of "non-hazardous transportable fluids." It is therefore not subject to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Goods by Road (ADR).

AdBlue ® is a registered trademark of the German Association of Automotive Industry (VDA) Visit our website gpnox-ab.fr for more information.

Application

The application is a technique consisting of spreading agricultural products (such as fertilizer) onto cultivated areas, forests, railways and marshes.

The physical characteristics of our fertilizers are designed for regular applications including very wide spreads (more than 36 meters).

Responsible and Effective Fertilization

EfR pocket calculator

GPN Agriculture has developed a tool to quantify the performance variation between the Ammo HP ® and urea by assessing, in particular, the economic impact of poor application. The EFR calculator also gives an indication of the environmental impact depending on the type of fertilizer: this is the responsibility indicator.

Find the calculator EFR here.

European Fertilizers Association

As the representative for Fertilizer Industries, the European Fertilizers Association is responsible for defending the common and general interests of its members, but does not include commercial operations.

he association also works to study and attempt to resolve the problems associated with the production, use and application of fertilizers which can affect the health, safety or environment.

The European Fertilizers Association (formerly EFMA) represents the major fertilizer industries in Europe :

  • Achema
  • Anwil
  • Azomures
  • BASF AG
  • Agrolinz
  • DonauChem
  • Fertiberia
  • GPN
  • GrowHow
  • Lovochemie
  • Nitrogen
  • Oci Agro
  • Yara
  • ZA Pulawy
  • ZAK

Fertilizers

Fertilizers are substances, usually mixtures of elements, designed to provide the plants with additional nutrients to improve their growth and increase yield and crop quality. The action consists of providing a fertilizer called the fertilisation. The fertilizers are a part, with the soil conditioners, of fertilizers products. GPN Agriculture produces two types of fertilizers: Ammo HD, the reference for ammonium nitrate, and Tonisoufre, the ideal fertilizer for cereals and rapeseed.

GPN Pilot

Faced with the quality requirements and environmental constraints, the GPN Pilot provides a solution. GPN Pilot is a useful, accurate and representative tool to come to an immediate decision for Nitrogen fertilization, all in easy to use and comfortable conditions.

    • Concentrated technology in a standing and upright position

GPN Pilot is a portable reflectometer: this is the transfer of technologies used by satellites to be able to use them in an upright, standing position. Measuring the reflectance of a vegetation cover determines the nitrogen nutrition level of a crop and therefore tests if the nitrogen fertilization needs to be adjusted.
    • Make your decision in minutes

With GPN Pilot, the measurement is quick, without complicated movements, the diagnosis is immediate (software is included in the device) and the decision to adjust the nitrogen dose is made without delay.

ISRS System (International Safety Rating System)

An internationally recognized assessment system. The safety management system ensures an effective organization to manage safety on site whilst paying particular care to prevention, continuous improvement and feedback (REX). The system organizes in a codified manner the procedures in relation to each activity (authorisation, safety etc.).

MSDS

The safety data sheet (MSDS, or material safety data sheet) is a form containing data relating to the properties of a chemical substance. The design of the MSDS is governed by the EU Regulation, REACH.

These sheets are an important part of Health and Safety at Work, the workplace for the product users and those who treat their remnants, residues or waste contaminated with these toxic and/or dangerous products; and also upstream for those working in ergonomics of work stations or process design, and downstream for healthcare personnel, by informing the workers and the emergency staff (including poison centres about the risks associated with these products and how to reduce them.

These sheets are used to catalog information on chemical products. We should be able to find them anywhere a substance is used. In Europe, they must be distributed by the manufacturer or product distributor to the customer and in the customer's language.

They are also sent to the occupational doctor.

Nitrogen

Nitrogen is a chemical element with the symbol N and atomic number 7. In common parlance, this means the nitrous diatomic gas, Nitrogen N2, is major component in the atmosphere, accounting for nearly 4/5th of the air (78.06%, by volume).

Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth because it allows the plant to manufacture proteins, chlorophyll, enzymes and vitamins. It is crucial for first-rate yields and high protein levels.

GPN Agriculture offers nitrogen fertilizers with impeccable chemical and physical performance to provide the best products to its customers.

Nitrogen oxide

Nitrogen oxides, more generally called NOx, come in the monoxide form (NO) or dioxide (NO2) nitrogen (N).

They occur from a reaction between nitrogen and oxygen at any temperature in the air and are generated mainly by thermal combustion in various industries:

  • waste incineration plants (WIP),
  • thermal power plants,
  • cement plants,
  • glassworks,
  • refineries.

NOx contributes to ozone formation in the lower layers of the atmosphere and has a role in increasing the greenhouse effect.
GPN Industry & Environment supports you through the process of smoke and fume treatment, by offering solutions designed to get rid of nitrogen oxides.
We have extensive experience in the treatment of NOx emitted by nitric units.
A hundred NOx treatment plants operating in the world use GPN Industry & Environment processes.

REACH

REACH is the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals. It came into force on 1st June 2007. REACH replaces and improves the old legislative framework of the European Union (EU) on chemical products.

Responsible Effectiveness (EfR)

GPN is committed to a labelling procedure for its products and agricultural activities. This EfR label, for responsible effectiveness, is for a GPN fertilizer (the HP Ammo) and two tools for farmers: The GPN Pilot and the EfR calculator. These items help determine the right amount of fertilizer needed in the right place at the right time.

Structured agriculture

Meeting the criteria of sustainable development, responsible effectiveness is used to balance manufacturer's profitability targets, and consumer expectations whilst respecting the environment.

Early on, GPN Agriculture wanted to contribute to structured fertilization. So, GPN Agriculture carried out an experiment on the catchment at Auradé to study the impact of agricultural processes on the quality of surface waters.
